Vlaaikensgang

Antwerp has many little alleys ready to be discovered. And although many of them are now privatized, there are still quite some unique ones left. One of them is "Vlaaikensgang" which dates back to the end of the 16th century. Surprisingly, this seemingly romantic alley used to be the place where the poorest citizens lived. Today, you can find two restaurants: the exclusive Sir Anthony van Dijck, named after the famous Antwerpian painter, and 't Hofke, a family-run restaurant that illuminates authenticity.

Golden tip: Vlaaikensgang is considered one of the best places to listen to the clocks ringing because of its proximity to the cathedral. Thus, walking around here a bit before noon might be the best time of the day!
